Why am I making an indie website? It comes down to the way the old web used to create spaces. You're browsing right before bed time, seeing anything you can before you have to log off, and you run across somebody's wolf pack roleplay site. The forest background, wolf pngs and the calming and mysterious sounding midi playing in the background put you somewhere else. If only for a few minutes before you're shoved offline for the night, you have stumbled into a den of wolves living their lives together independently of you, and they will continue to do so after you've left. You may or may not ever see this site again, but it sticks in your memory. On the contemporary web, this kind of experience is effectively dead. Little to no customization options even for the colours of the UI, and certainly no html/css editing. No way to distinguish one page from another, and all becoming one homogenous, continuous space that has no personality and offers no curiousities. And sure, too much computer time was also a problem in those days just like today, but at the bare minimum, sites were visually stimulating and different from one another. No scroll trance on the same feed that traps you for (at worst)hours. I need that experience again, and I want to be a part of the indie web by creating a space for myself to exist and have a place away from the minimalism of it all.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS EXOTIC PIGEON??
